Dr. Pedro Garciarena is a board-certified general neurologist with a focus on headaches including migraines and facial pain, and a special interest in neuro-oncology and strokes as well as Botox treatment for migraines, limb spasticity, focal dystonias, and Parkinson’s He obtained his medical degree from the Institute of Medical Science of Havana and began his career with a residency in neurosurgery at the Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery of Cuba. Following this, Dr. Garciarena further honed his surgical skills with a fellowship in spine surgery at Hospital Vargas de Caracas. He then moved to Chile and worked as a neurosurgeon at the University of Chile.
Dr. Garciarena then completed a neurology residency at Louisiana State University, where he gained comprehensive knowledge in diagnosing and treating a wide range of neurological disorders. He continued to deepen his expertise with a neuro-oncology fellowship at the MD Anderson Cancer Center of The University of Texas, focusing on the treatment and management of brain and spinal tumors and related conditions and treatment effects.
